How is the test performed?

It begins with a blood draw to measure the amount of initial glucose. The next step is to supply 100 grams of lactose in a solution with water.
Blood is drawn again three more times. One after 30 minutes, another one at the hour and, finally, two hours after ingesting lactose.
If the amount of blood glucose is maintained at 30 mg per decilitre after two hours, the patient is not lactose intolerant. However, when the amount is less than 20 mg per decilitre the diagnosis confirms intolerance.
